Guide: your account and how to export
The files SkuClinic reads
Export formats change without notice. Review the column mapping on every import and spot-check a few rows against your source file.
You need two files to start: a product export with price and cost, plus a Google Ads product report or an orders export. Orders, a cost sheet, and Amazon are optional. No platform export? Use the SkuClinic import template (blank, how to fill it), or type one product into Quick profit. Drop them on the app in any order. Item ID in Google should match Variant SKU in Shopify. If Merchant Center adds a prefix, the rows will not join until the IDs match — the mapping preview shows you the values.

Your account
SkuClinic needs an account. Everything in this guide works the same once you are signed in.
- Sign up. Open the app, choose Create account, and enter your email and a password. That’s it: no card needed.
- 14-day free trial. Your free trial of full access starts right away. A banner shows the days left. Choose a plan any time ($29.99/mo or $299/yr on Stripe’s secure checkout) and billing starts when the trial ends. If you don’t, your account locks when the trial ends, but your data stays saved and is all there again as soon as you subscribe.
- Sign in and sync. Sign in with the same email on any computer or phone. Your stores and their product data sync to your account, so you pick up where you left off. If you already used SkuClinic in this browser, the app offers to upload that workspace once you’re signed in.
- Forgot your password? Choose Forgot password? on the sign-in form and we email you a reset link that works once, for one hour. If the app can’t send email right now, it shows the support address to write to instead.
Shopify products
- In Shopify admin, go to Products.
- Click Export.
- Choose All products.
- Choose “CSV for Excel, Numbers, or other spreadsheet programs”.
- Click Export products. Shopify downloads the file or emails a link.
- Drop the CSV on SkuClinic. It reads Variant SKU, Title, Variant Price, Cost per item, and inventory.
Cost per item is blank unless you filled it in on the variant. If it is blank, use a cost sheet with SKU, unit cost, shipping, and other costs.
Shopify orders (optional, for units sold)
- Go to Orders.
- Click Export.
- Choose the same date range as the Google Ads report, and CSV.
- Drop the file on SkuClinic. Line quantities are totaled by Lineitem SKU. Profit uses that unit count, not ad conversions.
Google Ads product report
- Open Google Ads and set the date range. A full month is a good default.
- Open a Shopping or Performance Max campaign and choose the Products view. For the whole account, use Insights and reports, then Report editor, and build a product report.
- Include Item ID, Title, Cost, Clicks, and Conversions. Impressions and conversion value can stay; they are ignored for the bid math.
- Click the download icon and choose .csv.
- Drop the file on SkuClinic. Leave the title rows and the Total row in. They are skipped. A product with spend and zero conversions is marked as losing money, not as “need data”.
Sample Google Ads product report
Amazon (optional)
Only if you also sell the same SKUs on Amazon. You do not need this file for a Shopify and Google Ads catalog.
- Fee preview: in Seller Central, open Reports, then Fulfillment, then Fee Preview. Request it and download the CSV.
- Or a settlement: open Payments, then Reports Repository, and download the flat-file settlement report.
- Drop it on SkuClinic. A fee preview is read per SKU (estimated fee total). A settlement is totaled by SKU: principal becomes revenue, fee lines become fees, tax lines are ignored.

Shopify sales by product variant (optional)
Analytics › Reports › “Sales by product variant”, export as CSV. Net items sold become units sold. Use it instead of the orders export, not with it, for the same dates.
Etsy
- Listings: Shop Manager › Settings › Options › Download data › Download CSV (Currently for sale listings). TITLE, PRICE, SKU, and QUANTITY are read. QUANTITY is stock on hand, not units sold.
- Sold items: Download data › Orders › type “Order items”. SKU, Quantity, Price, and Discount Amount become units sold and average selling price.
- Etsy does not export your cost. Add it with a cost sheet or the template.
Google Merchant Center feed (optional)
A feed file or Google Sheet downloaded as CSV/TSV. id, title, price, sale_price, and cost_of_goods_sold are read. A sale price, when set, is used as the price.
Cost sheet (optional)
A plain CSV is enough when Shopify’s cost field is empty or you pay shipping the product export does not show.
Columns SkuClinic looks for: SKU, product name, unit cost, shipping, other costs, ASIN. A buffer of 1 means 1%, not 100%. 0.2 means 20%. 0 stays 0%.
FAQ
My file’s columns have different names. Will it still work?
Usually. Column names are matched regardless of case and punctuation, and older and newer names both work. A column matched only by a similar name is marked “guessed”. If a key column (SKU, price, cost, units, or spend) is missing, the mapping step warns you and lets you pick it by hand. Tick “Remember this column mapping” to reuse it next time.
Can I trust the import?
Check it. Shopify, Amazon, Google, Etsy, and others change their export formats without notice, and no tool can guarantee every file is read correctly. After each import, open the file summary and compare a few rows with your source file before acting on the results.
Is this financial advice?
No. Estimates only, based on the data you provide. Not financial or tax advice. Verify before acting. See the Terms.
